Xeno Crisis is an awesome game similar to Smash TV, with tons of action and carnage and no sign of slowdowns. Gorgeous graphics and excellent musics. https://youtu.be/istNgDl9IvI?t=1155

SNES tendies are forever coping that they had to wait half a decade to get a shittier version of Xeno Crisis that doesn't even run on the base SNES hardware. What a sad state.

He chose the platform because he's ass-blasted that the Mega Drive is far superior for those sorts of games, and thinks he can "prove" the SNES "can do it too", which, so far, he has absolutely failed on that point. He is neither "in his right mind" nor acting rationally. The game looks like shit too. He would be on his third or fourth game were it a Mega Drive project.
There's nothing on the SNES even in the same league as homebrew titles such as AsteBros, Xeno Crisis, Tanzer, Paprium, or Pier Solar, there never will be, and there never should be.

>The weak sound ruins most of the experience for me.
It is true that the Mega Drive's better sound hardware was unfortunately more difficult to utilise well, with many games struggling. If you want an idea of what the Mega Drive is capable in the right hands, look at Xeno Crisis. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=istNgDl9IvI

Most homebrew games seem to understand how to properly balance colors on genesis

LOL these look like fucking garbage compared Mega Drive homebrews. No wonder nobody makes homebrews on the SNES.

That would be a tragedy, when they could make good homebrews instead.

Programmers are smart people, why would they waste their time making games for the SNES when they could instead spend less time and effort to make a game on the THREE TIMES faster Mega Drive, and end up with a better end result in the process?

No need to "cope", I'm busy playing all the fantastic new Mega Drive games.

>There were plenty of MD games that were 256 wide and weren't multiplats
At least 80% of the Mega Drive's library was higher resolution.
>I take it you've never actually used a physical system, because even the "cleanest" models have audio issues like too much low end or distortion
Even unmodded, the advantages of the Mega Drive's 2x higher sample rate and 2x higher bit rate are apparent.
>Living in an era of fastrom hacks, this isn't a schoolyard in 1993
Mega Drive games consistently do things SNES games could only dream of.

You will never see the SNES even come close to these sorts of games, it is simply not capable.

>It just couldn't compete with the other options on the market at the time.
Nice bait, it's THREE TIMES faster than the SNES. Mega Drive games consistently do effects the SNES could only dream of, and modern homebrew efforts have only shown that it is even more capable than we previously believed.

If only your shit SNES hadn't been so hampered with an 8-bit processor running at a pathetic 2 mhz, perhaps you could have had good games to play.

The art for Xeno Crisis was done by Henk Nieborg, an oldschool artist perhaps best known for his art in The Misadventures of Flink, and Lomax.

A few years ago, I asked him what he used for Xenocrisis, and answered Cosmigo Promotion NG.

Promotion NG is a modern clone of Deluxe Paint, so no surprise that an old veteran like Nieborg would use it. I've tried it myself and... While it's clearly powerful, it's far from intuitive or beginner friendly. The interface and toolset have little in common with other modern graphics programs, and it's clearly designed primarily for people who used Delux Paint 30 years ago.
