Yea, I was thinking the same, but I wouldn't mind if it was "implied" per say in story or whatnot. I still want to blast through levels doom style. I actually like your idea of an unknown time, I was almost thinking of something like Blade runner but with different aesthetics. I might just say it's present day. Bah, I can't wrap my brain around a decent story for this.
