What are some good games to practice reading Japanese? Simple grammar, basic kanji, light text, but with enough variety to actually learn something would be ideal.

I think one of the reasons it looks better is because the artists took the time to scale everything to the GB screen; the game is filled with clear, well defined sprites and background tiles because they worked within the limitations of the console to get the best artwork they could out of it.

I was 13 myself, it was 1993 and so Internet was a dream for me- took what seemed like a year for me to beat it and working my way through it is one of my best memories of childhood. I think that’s why I play it again every year to this day, and it’s my go-to comfy game when I just want to waste time playing something I enjoy. Beaten it many many times, and I never get tired of it.
