There is, but you'll be spending a lot of time maxing out all the classes and I never got any levels in any of the monster classes. Maxing out all classes has never been something I've ever done in any RPG.

I don't speak or read Japanese nor I have played them through in Japanese, with the exception of the Japanese PSX version of DQ4. I'm just aware that party chat was in the Japanese version on Dragon Quest 4 for PSX and DS. In fact, the Japanese DS ROM has partial English, Spanish, German, French, and Italian translations already on it, and you can use an Action Replay or a DS Flash Cart to play the game in those translations. The most interesting thing is that none of the party chat is translated, and the game will instead throw out line numbers as place holders for non-existent text. I have a theory that we didn't get Party Chat in DQ4DS because those lines were not already translated for Squeenix America and they decided to be lazy and just cut it.

Don't feel so bad. I have Lunar 1 and 2 (Sega CD and PSX), Grandia 1 and 2, Persona 2: Eternal Sin, Phantasy Star 3, 4, and CD, Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, Terranigma, Breath of Fire 1 though 4, and quite a few other RPG's I own in my backlog.

The first game was published by Nintendo expecting the game to be as big of a hit as it was in Japan, but that didn't pan out. Nintendo gave away copies of DW1 with subscriptions of Nintendo Power. Enix themselves had to publish 2, 3, and 4 by themselves and they didn't make anywhere near as many copies as the first game, and each game less and less copies were made and sold. So that's why they're expensive.

Very nice! It's certainly the better, more enjoyable, and more cost effective way of playing the first 3 games in English without resorting to emulation.

More than half of my legitimate NA DQ games are labeled Dragon Warrior.

Very nice. DQ4 is actually my favorite of the series.

>checked ebay
>buy it now prices between $35-45
Those prices have been pretty stable since the late 90's. I still have a Funcoland price guide that says it's worth $35.
