I never got very far in this as a kid but it always felt aggressive and unsettling. Between the marriage opening, the chaotic energy of the combat encounters and the game over screen that just plays the sound of waves over an empty beach sand emphasizes how you failed to save your fiance

I recently beat the Aron ending and I thought it was quite fun. The world is interesting, and it’s a pretty unique mixture of sci-fi and and fantasy. Dungeons weren’t as labyrinthine as 2, and it didn’t even feel half as grindy.
Is the only reason people don’t like this one that it’s more fantasy than sci-fi? What do you guys think?

Just finished this. I have already beaten 1, 2 and 4 and was planning on skipping this entirely due to the horrible things I've heard about it, but I decided to give it a go. The entire thing felt like some sort of insane fever dream; the world map theme that would add an instrument for each party member, the repetitive battle music that would suddenly shift and speed up once the turn started, and the overall feeling that something was horribly, horribly wrong in the game (outside of the budget).

Was very interesting.
