Why does this game get so much praise? I just beat it along with the other Castlevania games and I felt it was pretty weak.
>Tons of backtracking
>Level design is ok for a Castlevania game
>Because of the level up system you are almost always OP compared to everything you face (or sometimes waaaay too underpowered) making the game more of a chore than a challenge
I just beat this after playing Rondo of Blood which in my opinion is the far better game.

Don't know if this counts as "recent", but Castlevania SOTN is one of my favorite games, and I didn't play it until 2011.

I just beat Symphony of the Night and it was pretty gud but way too easy. Haven't played any of the other games though, which ones are good?
