For me it's Ebe Endocott. Really good traction, awesome cooling and repair to juggle boosting at every opportunity, and personally I've found the compact dimensions helping immensely with not constantly bumping into barriers. Could never get comfortable with a chungus racer like Ody Mandrell, Ark Roose or Mawhonic.

To answer your question, I -think- I generally stuck with Ebe Endocott in Episode 1 Racer. Don't think I even bothered with switching racers mid career. Granted it's not a hugely replayable game and I haven't played it in a bunch of years so my memory might be fading me, but the name and look feel very familiar.
