90s video game box art is really silly. I wonder how people felt if they had no idea what they were getting.

They are misleading in that you think you are playing something with Conan the Barbarian in it and instead you get Kento Susuzuki or some shit.

That being said Phantasy Star IV is an awesome game though.

Americans were indifferent to Anime in the 80's and 90's. So in turn Sega of America had to "Westernize" cover art to make it more appealing to the American Consumer.

Problem was that you would get this game. See the Conan-esq High Fantasy artwork expect a badass action game. They would still get that game, but it would be all Anime characters, not Conan and friends.
