Not bad OP, but if you want true autismo, you need to check potential REGIONAL differences of each version

Difficulty may differ on the same version depending on the region. For instance, I'm pretty certain the US PC version has the same difficulty as the og Jap release, which is easier than the og US PS1 release.

Also, iirc Dualshock DC version still has the b&w videos in the PAL version, and does not have the different OST. Despite "uncensored" being the whole point of it.

It's really fun to do a "kill every Nemesis encounter" run once you know the game.

The hardest fight is actually the first, in the court of the police station, since by that point you only have a couple of herbs, the basic handgun, the shotgun, and only enough ammo if you use the few powder you just got.

The shotgun has too long of a down time so it's too dangerous using, as it makes Nemesis rage every time.

So the only one is to harm yourself with the handgun, stay at mid distance, fire a couple of shots, rebuild the mid distance, and have a lot of patience.

> tho i still have problems with the 1st fight (i never really understood how dodging worked).

That one is the hardest of the game because of the lack of supplies. All you have is the basic handgun and the shotgun. The shotgun is useless against him: its downtime is too huge, you're sure to get hit before you can move again after a shot.

So arm yourself with the handgun and with patience. You need to stay at a middle range distance, far enough that he can't hit you, but not far enough that it will make him rush towards you. So, be at that distance, shoot 1-3 bullets, and run a bit to recover the lost distance between him and you. Repeat. If you do it right, he'll NEVER rush towards you.
If he does, avoid him by turning in the direction of the arm he doesn't use to attack.
You don't need to use the dodge mechanic at all. People on youtube just do it for show, but this is more reliable.

Actually I did beat the game knife only. Go try that at the Nemesis clock tower fight, you'll come back crawling in tears.

Using the dodge mechanics against Nemesis isn't an advice I would give, it takes mastery.

You realize that QTEs, in the sense that we knew it in RE4, weren't a thing yet when RE3 came out?

>Also, if you hide in the underground chamber in the restaurant (with Carlos), there'll be a hidden time limit (because a water pipe bursted) to jump up through a grate. If you don't do anything and the water starts to reach a certain height, Carlos will automatically go back to the restaurant.

Yeah I found that one out more than a decade after first playing it.

You can skip cutscenes in every version, including PS1. AFAIK you can only skip doors on PC, which with the absence of loading times between camera angles, makes it play very smoothly.

>>3420692
RE3 was first released in 1999 on PS1. Its ports are allowed on the board because of that.

Yes, but unless the game had different or improved controls, like Fatal Frame (and iirc SH2 as well), they'd be called "outdated".

>>3394156

Survival gameplay mechanics isn't just about "ammo to enemies" ratio. That ammo, enemies don't drop, so you have to find it. Look in hidden places, unlock rooms which sole purpose is to have supplies it in, manage ammo in your inventory, find keys to open lockers or shelves which contain ammo, etc etc
Yes there are enough ammo to kill everything in RE1, but if you do so, at the start of the game you will HAVE to dodge some enemies and come back to kill them afterwards, once you've found the ammo.

What matters it to make the player FEEL unsafe. Having to look for ammo, which you may not even find, and keeping a proper balance, is what matters, and this is what make them different from traditional action games.

>>3392847
Only if you're controlling a character that solves those puzzles. For instance a third person game in which you control a character, and for instance you have to do jumps or time things movement correctly. That would be an "action puzzle game", even if there are no enemies, no shooting and no fighting.

>>3392881
I like Survivor because it has the RE1 and RE2 feel and tone; a feel that was lost with RE3 onwards.

My main grip with Survivor is that the controls suck, no matter what. If you play with a pad, the aiming sucks. If you play with a gun, the movement sucks as the game was made before guns had d-pads since all moevment depend on ONE button: press once to walk forward, press twice to run forward, press three times to go backwards. I can tell this is innacurate and you can forget about going backwards in the middle of a fight; and running will often fail.
And then there is the chinese PC port, which allows for true FPS play (mouse and keyboard, aiming at all times while moving) but it's unfinished and glitchy with broken AI.
There is no perfect way to play the game.

Besides if you want to use the handgun, you're going to need space, which you don't always have. Freeze rounds work even in the tiniest corridor.

I am so triggered I am thinking of making a video comparison between handgun and grenade launcher+freeze rounds tonight, if I'm not too tired when I get back from work.

oh and by the way

>I am trying to knife nemesis down outside of the precint but sometimes

I don't think you realize what you are doing.
I did a knife only run, once. I did it in the easy difficulty of Biohazard: The Last Escape. Meaning, the easiest version of the game excisting (BH3 is easier than RE3).

The only Nemesis fight that requires you to KILL him and which offers you no gimmick environment help, is at the clock tower.

With the knife, to kill him at the clock tower in the easiest version of the game, it is a 20-25 minutes endurance choregraphy figured out on a step-close basis.
So, to give you a comparaison point, he doesn't really have much more health at the Clock Tower fight than he does during all the previous "regular" fights of the game.
That and, between BH3-easy and RE3-Normal, I'd say you can roughly add 30% more health.

Give up the knife, it is hopeless.

If by preccinct you mean in front of the policestation when you meet Brad, this is actually one of the hardest fight in the game against him due to the lack of strong weapons of health item (please note that this encounter, and the one just after, when he spawns inside the building, are two different ones, so you can't go grab supplies inside and come back for that first encounter).

So you have to do with what you have : the shotgun, the basic handgun, and a couple of mixed herbs (assuming you haven't used them yet).

How I do it is with the handgun. The shotgun has WAY too slow animations. Shoot once with it, and it will trigger his "running rage" animation, and he'll come punch you and knock you down before you've even stopped the reloading animation.

>mfw I discovered how to beat the Grand Dragon's above Gizamaluke's Grotto

I couldn't do it at the end of Disc1, but at the start of Disc 2 (once you get back with Zidane's side of the team after Garnet's side) it's do-able.

So you can have Zidane, Freya, Vivi and Quina at any lvl you want at the start of Disc2.

RE3 has the highest skill ceiling in the series (if you only count the survival horror ones), the most freedom given to the player.

That gives it an awful LOT of replay value and the action orientation really goes in hand with this, making of it by far not only the best RE game, but also one of the best action games ever.
It is easily in my top favourite action games ever.

Honestly, all the criticism towards RE3 such as "too short", "not a real game more like an add-on", etc, feel like they are given by people who have barely played the game. If you've beaten RE3 once or twice, you haven't scratched the surface.

Run until you are at an average distance, shoot 2-3 times, repeat

Remember, he will always try to hit you with his right arm, so it's easier to dodge him by turning in the opposite direction (on the right IIRC)

Trying to remain at an average distance is the key. if you go too far away, that will make him run towards you which won't leave you time to shoot him. If you fail that and see him running, don't even try to shoot, run and dodge and go at an average distance.

The key is that after a failed hit attempt by him, that should calm him down and he'll stop running, and instead, walk.

Also if after 2 shots you're not sure whether you have time for a 3rd one, then don't do it, lay down the aim and prepare to run.

Also, when he's down for the first time, while he's going up you can easily have time to shoot with another weapon, a couple of shots, like the shotgun or something.

Also, when he's down for the first time, he'll get up after a while. Shooting him will make him get up immediately. However I think that this one shot, the one that wakes him up, doesn't count against his HP, it's just a "wake up" shot, so don't waste precious ammo for distance. However I'm not for 100% sure of this; it's just a feeling I keep having every time.

>want to crush every single civilian in the level
>more than a thousand civilians
>that last one hidden guy

I heard the game had a great modding community but I've never tried it myself. The first game I mean, the only one that's really good.

I was a little disappointed with the add-on, Plasma Pack. As a kid I had a 1 level demo of it and it seemed awesome, and I only played the full version a year ago when I rebought the game on GoG. Only half of the new tracks are actually good, some of the worlds are very small, empty, repetitive and overall uninteresting. Still worth it for the few new good worlds and courses, and the new cars and civilians.
