Robopon is extremely similar to Pokemon, with a few additional features. It had an integrated alarm and clock built into the cartridge so that the game could keep track of time, and when things happened in game the cartridge could alarm even if you didn't have the console on.

There was an equipment feature where you could equip hardware (weapons) and software to Robopon which would determine their skills. So a Fist part with Fire software would let you use a Fire Punch, and Fire software with Water software would give you the Steam ability.
