I get what you mean. N64 stick is just too different. I wonder why no one, even Nintendo thought making stick area larger on other consoles for extra precision.

Stick is very different on Hori Octa from N64 so it can't replace it, but if a controller like this with an N64 like stick came out, it would replace the N64 controller for me.
I don't care that much about it's shape like others do.
