There's no question to answer. You either can't understand a basic sentence or you're pretending you can't. Either way you've shown your hand.

And yes, digital is fundamentally the same. Enjoy your empty rage. :)

I honestly mostly just feel bad for you. I never have enough time for everything I want to play, it's hard for me to really imagine people like you are real.

>Preset by whom, and what gives them authority over the player?

The game designers, because they made the game. Not that you can't do fun or difficult things by playing on your own. Some of my favorite games are based around that.

But there's a difference between a game that's designed to be difficult just to play through and one where the player mostly sets their own goals and challenges.

That poster was simply pointing out that the challenges the game itself gives you are relatively easy and mostly comes down to looking everywhere.

I pretty much agree with you, but don't lump us all together. I'm in my 40's and love modern games. I think we're practically in a golden age.

And you call me long winded!
Capcom still rocks. SFV is a special case, it was released early for the enthusiast crowd. Anyone who's paid attention to the series knows the first release is always a little shitty, so unless you're an SF nut you wait till they refine it.

Monster Hunter is one of the biggest games ever and with good reason. It's complex, high intensity action with tons of content and has just been getting better and better with every release. Also the current one has been out for almost a year and a half and still gets regular DLC releases. That's free DLC, by the way.

Resident Evil just knocked it out of the park as well.

Zelda is taking the world by storm again, and Splatoon's still huge Atlus is makingsome of the best dungeon crawling rpgs ever and SMTIV was incredible. King of Fighters is back to being good, heck even Mortal Kombat is good these days.

And that's just the barest tip of some of the stuff off the top of my head I happen to love, not even getting into indies. With those I think you just have your head in the sand or are on another planet. On top of it almost everyone I talk to about games both loves playing them and are into totally different things. I can't not see it as a golden age.

>The only console
Which is why I said platforms, consoles aren't the only place for games. They never were.

>and only because of it's indie library.
Implying that doesn't count...

Real talk you've heard before, anyone who can't find modern games either isn't looking or doesn't really like video games in general. But like I say, we've had this conversation many times and will never see eye to eye. I wish I could help you see how awesome things are now but I can't, so whatever. Not really my problem.

Okay. It just comes across differently when you talk about practicing hard games with praise and then refer to other games as "time-wasters". All video games are time wasters in my opinion, but sometimes they're a great way of wasting time.

Never played either WoW or CS for the record.

I don't necessarily disagree with that, I just think it's still better than most of the alternatives.

Personally, I'm firmly against the concept of "best" tastes. I think all sorts of games can be fun for all sorts of different reasons. I may not like Mario or Halo, but I'm always happy they're there for people that do.

I just love games, and as long as I have games to play I'm happy. And considering even if games stopped being made right now, there are already more out there I want to play than I'll ever have time for... I'm pretty happy.

Difficult, balls to the wall hard games are fun, but so are relaxing or playful ones. It's all good!

>Are we living on the same planet?
Apparently not, because I see far FAR more variety than that. Also you just mentioned MOBAs which is one of the new genres I was mentioning.

I think there's always been at least 90% crap with a bit of cream on top. But these days I think the cream is excellent.
