Banjo Tooie. The multiplayer, the expansive world, Humba Wumba (oh lawd the rule 34), and the witty humor were everything that I could have hoped for back when I got it in Christmas 2000. I agree that some of the backtracking was tedious, but keeping notes after you exit a level completely exonerates the backtracking in my opinion. I wish BT had used the expansion pak to reduce the frame rate slowdown, but I don't recall it ever being a problem.

The engine room in Rusty Bucket Bay was absolutely stupid. In fact, that entire level sucked. I feel like a lot of BK's difficulty stems from the wonky camera + thin-ass platforms, which BT didn't really have.

>I love the game, but I absolutely cannot stand the fact that it plays like molasses. It's so fucking slow.

That's just your internet ADD talking. If you want slow, try starting up a game of Twilight Princess or Skyward Sword. Those games are ridiculous. BK and BT put you right into the action.

>Hey guys, when do you think this "retro fad" will end, and we can go back to a hipster free hobby?

Retro games aren't a fad. They're a way of keeping history alive.

For the record, any game that claims to be "retro" is likely a nostalgia cash-in and should be disregarded. I don't even remember Fez being marketed as "retro" and I still enjoy the game from time to time. Never beat it, but I still enjoy the exploration aspect.

Hipsters aren't even a counterculture anymore. I think it died around late 2010. Now, it's just some lame fashion trend. American Apparel co-opted it into their line of overpriced bullshit clothing that shrivels into dust after 3 months because it's so poorly made. My old hanes socks last longer than their clothes ever did.

Okay, I'm a bit drunk from caroling, but bear with me. I think most of us are here because we are mature enough to enjoy the games we already own rather than shilling for some corporation like the vast majority of /v/.

I wouldn't consider For the Frog the Bell Tolls or Clock Tower very widely played. But it also doesn't have to be some obscure, never got a western localization, you've probably never heard of it game every week. The idea for some kind of generator is good though. But maybe from a voted upon list of games. They don't all have to be good either. Some rage weeks would be fun too
