This Hori 360 controller that was pretty good. It's stupidly expensive now, and I don't recommend it if you don't already have it.

I know it get's mention quite often around here: the Hori pad EX2 Turbo for Xbox 360.

It's the ideal controller to have for all 3 major 5th-gen consoles. 6-face buttons & two analogue sticks suffice for a substitute N64 controller, it has a decent D-pad for Saturn, & lastly; do I really need to explain how it plays for a PS1 controller? It has the best of both retro & modern game controllers.

As far as actual retro? Satrun model 2 pad.

As far as the "go to" controller that works for PC emulation? Pic related. It's my default 360 fighting game controller and works just fine for emulation on PC.

FANTASTIC dpad. 6-button face. two shoulder bumpers and 2 analog shoulder triggers.
