What developers made retro games which you consider to be overrated or to have aged poorly, /vr/?

Talk about those favorite memories from Squaresoft games. You know, before they turned to shit.

Let's make this a company logo thread instead.

I really miss seeing this logo flare up in their modern games. There's always been something magical about seeing it open your game on a CRT in them olden days. And it's not even outdated, it's always been slick and future.

>Hold me
>Whatever lies beyond this morning
>Is a little later on
>Regardless of warning
>The future doesn't scare me at all
>Nothing's like before

And so went the swan song of Square, its unintentional foreshadowing being all the more heartbreaking looking back on it now. Let us not think of the current incompetence of Square-Enix, or the death of so many IPs. Let us remember this thread a company that produced some of the best games of any era, had a spirit of experimentation and ambition, and a catalog paralleled only by first-party Nintendo titles.

Let us this thread remember the RPG innovator Square.

What's your favorite Square game? Square property? Least favorites?

/vr/ I've reached a conundrum. Over the past year, I've acquired copies of both Vagrant Story and Xenogears, and now that the semester's over, I have no clue which one to start first.

I've played a bit of Vagrant Story, got myself past the fist boss, but that's all. That weapons customization's intense, but I think I can manage it. Xenogears I havent played at all as of now, I heard about the story and themes, and I got a good feeling I'd love it, Jungian and Nietzsche influences and all. I went through a Xenogears thread on here a month back and it was one of the best threads I'd ever been in, regardless of the fact that I didnt catch much of the lore or story.

So yes, my question to you, fine ladies and fellas of /vr/, which title do I start and dig into first?

Also, Squaresoft thread I guess. Titles other than Final Fantasy, cuz Chrono Cross gets no love
