I honestly don't even know what a Nomad is worth these days, just that they're pretty rare now. I picked up this one for $50 sometime in 2000 and have been loving it ever since.

The next would probably be a Pocketstation, but even though they're fairly rare I don't imagine they're worth much over here since only a tiny handful of english games work with it.

More like,
>based 39 year old who bought everything physical he wanted when the prices were good and is now plenty happy to emulate the rest.

I'm just having a laugh at your misfortune, is all. :)

Try checking out Hamilton. I've been out of the collecting scene for a while now, but the pawnshops downtown used to be really good and much better prices than when I would go into TO.

Though it was in a little place on Bloor I think, that I got my Nomad for $50, and in a strip mall in Misassauga where I found Beyond and Legend of Oasis and paid 35 for them together. That was years ago now though.

Nomad owner here. They're pretty cool. Games look amazing shrunk down on the little screen. In a way I would say it looks nicer than the PSP. I don't know a lot about screen technology, but the Nomad looks more like a tiny CRT than the PSP.

However they're not really "portable". It will eat through a fresh set of six AA batteries in about an hour and a half. So make absolutely sure you get an AC adapter with it. I also mostly play MD games on a PSP these days, but I still love the Nomad. I can't help at all with repairs though. Hoping that's a bridge I don't have to cross for some time yet.

I wasn't calling you a reseller. You're just an idiot trying to charge retarded prices for a five minute cleaning job and a dime store sticker.

Game resellers are a different bunch, and there's fundamentally nothing wrong with buying and selling old games. I just have a low opinion of the people who try to build a business around it because it forces them into a position of buying as much as possible and raising the price as much as possible which just fucks with the market.

None of it affects me directly though since I haven't been into physical collecting in years. These days I'm happy to play what I have and emulate what I don't. But career resellers do make it harder for my /vr/ brethren collectors and for that reason I deride them whenever possible.

But again, that wasn't in reference to you. You're just funny.

Blur is due more to the display than anything else. I get a hell of a lot more blur playing actual carts on a Nomad than I do running ROMs on a PSP.

I think whether people prefer emulating or running on original hardware is just fine. It's when they try to tell other people that their preferred way is correct and everyone else is wrong that things go sideways.

I still have a Nomad that I use fairly regularly and love it. Genesis games look great on it's little screen. But unless you're really into collecting for the sake of collecting and want the experience of this old hardware, a hacked PSP is a very good, actually portable and more reliable alternative.

>laser printers, vinyl decals etc
I honestly don't understand the point of that. But then I've never been a collector. Most of my carts look like crap, but I don't care about that just the game inside.

These days I mostly just play emulators. 10 years ago even was a different case because getting them to work well was a chore. But now, pretty the only time I play physical carts is on my Nomad, and I play more Genesis on PSP than I do that.

There is a special joy wandering into some weird random shop and finding a forgotten gem. I got Beyond Oasis and Legend of Oasis together for 15 bucks once in that manner. Finding my Nomad was a similar situation. Plus those stores are interesting to look around for all sorts of reasons other than just game related stuff.

lol me and my mom played so much fucking Genesis Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune back in the day. Having a large variety of games was a strength of the system, not a flaw you fool.

Genesis is probably my favorite system of all time as well. I have way more game for it than anything else.

The day I found a Nomad in a pawnshop for 50 bucks was better than any christmas.

Forgot my hipster pick of Ranger X on my Nomad. This thing was great, it killed so many spare periods in college. Fuck I loved the Genesis.
