If anything it's the most technologically advanced 2.5D game out there. It was basically Duke 3D but bigger and more explosive. There's a ton of destructibility, interactivity, and faux-3D architecture.

The sore point for most is the gameplay - the enemy roster isnt quite as balanced and versatile as Duke. However, it's still quite a fun game.

Ive seen people with the gall to say Blood is underrated in 2019. Cmon, that game is beloved. You know what's underrated? Shadow Warrior. Even most retro FPS fans dont care about it. But it's a fantastic game. Much more polished than Duke 3D. The only issue is that the protagonist and humor aren't as lovable. But the art direction and gameplay are excellent. And the enemy roster is actually more balanced than Blood, pretty much every enemy is a threat (unlike Blood where only 2 or 3 enemies are threatening and the rest are pushovers).

Beat both expansions to Shadow Warrior, Twin Dragon and Wanton Destruction. TD was definitely better. WD just didnt feel like Shadow Warrior - too many generic city levels and cramped, frustrating encounters. Plus some ugly enemy reskins and terrible voice clips. TD only has one new sprite, for the boss, and it actually aint bad. Also they really dropped the ball not calling it WONTON Destruction.
