MK is a very divisive game. Yes, it's very alien compared to other 2D FG, but the game has an own identity. I think a lot of people try it having played another more traditional FG beforehand and find it totally offputting, but the game isn't to fault for that.

>Muh unfair AI
Anyone that played any other FG knows that the AI is a bitch to play against at harder difficulties (SNK Bosses or ST come to mind) and isn't a replacement for real matches against another human being.

>Muh Dial-a-combos
The game combo system is rather flexible once you get the hang of it. There're launchers, juggles, airthrows and all that fun shit, while a lot of combos are situational based on anti air jabs.
The original KI was actually the more Dial-a-combo game, and even in that game there's advanced shit to do outside autocombos.

>Muh Fatalities
Those were just for stylin' anon.
You learn them just to fuck around but they don't matter for actual gameplay.
Although pulling off a Babality in a real tournament match deserves respect as you can't block in the last round to do them

Also, UMK3 is better than MKT, but Trilogy is still a fun game to fuck around and play casually.

Question:
This is going to sound a bit vague...
I remember playing a game back in the mid 90s (16 bit) and one of the bosses I fought was some sort of ninja or robot I believe... The only thing I clearly remember (except for the damn game itself) was the background had some sort of face warping in the background and changing colors at the same time. Reminded me of Giygas and Grey Aliens.

>how old are you?
28
>when was your "golden age of gaming"?
hmm, hard to say. I want to say the 8-bit era because it was when it was all new to me, but honestly I think it was the 32/64-bit era when video games were doing so many new things.
>what was your favorite console?
The Nintendo 64. Nothing will ever beat that first 3d experience for me. It was gaming nirvana.
>what were your top-5 games on your favorite console?
1) Super Mario 64
2) Pilotwings 64
3) Mario Kart 64
4) Perfect Dark
5) Turok
>what game gives you the deepest feeling of nostalgia?
Hard to pin it down to one. Dragon Warrior on NES, R-Type on master system, Sonic 3 and Knuckles still amazes the shit out of me as much as it did when I was a kid.
>what game did you have the most fun playing with your friends?
Either WCW vs NWO, Smash Bros 64, or Secret of Mana.
>what was your top "feel" moment?
Breath of Fire 3 when you get first separated from your friends and have to trek out on your own. Dat sad music and burned tree fort.
>at what moment did you finally realize that gaming just wasn't what it used to be (dat "aha" moment)?
This current gen. It finally hit me when Capcom cancelled Megaman Legends 3 that I really noticed. Indie titles do give me hope, but it feels like unique gaming experiences are becoming less important.

Also

>All those anons without "aha" moments
You give me hope for the future /vr/, I wish I wasn't as jaded.
