I can understand and even concur on some pics you /v/rmins are pointing, like Xenosaga III, Rogue Galaxy, DQ, I could even add myself all the .//Hack series as a tough challenger, but these games are great mainly because of the story. This is not bad per se, but I need to quote John Carmack on these: stories in videogames are stories in porn, it's nice to have them, but it's not that important.

But, what about if I tell you there is a japanese ARPG masterpiece solely for the gameplay? This is Monster Hunter Dos,.a game nobody but MH hardcore fans play. The english patch dropped in like 2012 or something and very few people try it.

This is the last Monster Hunting game Capcom released, it is a pocket survival game more more like the Action games MH are now. This is not a bad thing whatsoever, I'm just pointing out differences and drawing a line.

Mechanics feels old but they are masterfully crafted and the core gameplay is very unique. You should try it.
