Help an ol Eurofag out.

Specifically interested in HDMI to COMPONENT for connecting muh laptop to muh CRT. (HMDI out only, no VGA on laptop)

would it be adviseable to just buy a cheap cable?
Or a Digital to analogue conversion unit?
Or perhaps fucking with down-scalers may be applicable in my situation?
