They kind of had no choice. Fou's personality and mannerisms are all very regal and archaic. IT looks weird but it's kind of supposed too, he's waking up form however many centuries

as for it being ye olde english well they kind of didn't have a lot of options, we basically got ye olde English and that's it as far as regal dialects go.

Even the guys who did the manga went with ye olde english and they where weeb enough to leave in Sans and nii-chan every which way
