having said that you're right the exit is somewhat unmarked. except it isn't, it has "exit" written on it... well i suppose you might not expect to have to actually press on the wall. i suppose i had the advantage of an engine that draws exit linedefs in a different colour on the automap.

this map comes from the days before anyone figured out the BSP format, so the only map editing that could be done was retexuring and editing of line specials and thing layouts. in those days, it was assumed that if you were looking for new levels you had played the originals to utter exhaustion, and in particular knew the layout of E1M6 to the extent of being able to sketch it on the back of a napkin without looking.

not to make too many excuses, it is a confusing edit and also the baron in sector 145 seems impossible to kill without rocketing the wall above it (you can't jump in, it's a damage sector with no way out) but i think when put into historical context it's nowhere near as awful as you claim it to be.
