Before 2000 I'd played a total of two space games.

Lunatic Fringe was a screensaver for the mac and I didn't own one for long.

This motherfucker to this day is the only TBS that doesn't bore me to tears. I still say Petroglyph plagiarized it hard when they were developing Empire At War. Everything is a remix I guess.

Such amazingly good lore (since it was based on a sci-fi series that never gained real popularity). But this game was what it took to make me absolutely sure that all turn-based strategy games were inherently shit.

Until I played Civ 4 which reassured me of that fact.
