I don't dislike it but I don't like it either. There's good things in here but bad things too.

It feels like a smaller/portable version of the original with some differences. Reduced and condensed.

I like how the save system works. You can restart at a checkpoint with the health and stats of your best run, but it also seems pointless considering how short the levels are. Do you want to start at the beginning or 10 seconds into the level which is maybe a minute long anyway?
I don't understand why dying reboots the game back to the title.

The resolution/scale being smaller makes the whole thing a little questionable. Everything is crammed in a really bad way. It just makes for a mess of shit going on and everything is just exploding.
The new melee moves are cool but given the small arena it almost doesn't make sense. And unfortunately the same is true for the guns. What's even the point if everything is 2 inches away from you.

The fact you can bypass nearly everything is weird. You just run to the right, no need to fight.
The original had some areas like this but at least the screen was large enough to accommodate run-and-gun in a way that was more fun. You could shoot diagonally forward and kill someone that would be the equivalent of 3 screens away in this version.

The lack of gun power combinations is bad. Indifferent about the super shot abilities.

And in general the effects are kind of cool, the perspective, filters, etc.

I feel like this would have been a much better game on a different platform.
Let the levels be bigger both in length and actual screen space and the mechanics and effects would be alright. But as is this is just too condensed down in a way that just seems weird.
I guess it makes sense if you need to play a game for 1 minute while out and about, but otherwise I'd rather play the original.
