thank you based occam's razor, now all that's left is to adjust the flyback knobs and deal with the fucking convergence rings and I can forget I ever opened this TV.

I hope I don't end up snapping that strap though that probably wouldn't be fun to replace.

Also any have advice on how I should adjust the flyback knobs? Most people say to just leave them alone but I'm kind of past that point. I figure I only want to turn them until the picture is just clear enough without going too far.

Thanks I'm pretty glad I can say I've succesfully recapped a TV now, aside from this hiccup.
