I really wanted one but couldn't bring myself to spend the $500+ they go for. Instead I got a LD player from a karaoke parlor that was going out of business to satiate my LD thirst. Was totally worth it.

Don't bother with AC-3 audio, it's only useful for surround sound (do you really have surround sound set up for your retro gaming rig?), many discs have stereo PCM audio that sounds great if not better than the AC-3.

Also LD players are plentiful enough that you can replace it if it breaks and/or upgrade to a better one if you really want.

Just a 1U monitor speaker and a Laserdisc player for now (the TV is showing a Patlabor OVA LD). The monitor speaker sounds better than you'd expect - it has a digital crossover and DSP correction, also a headphone amplifier. I'm working on getting the 10R remote rack mounted too, I don't have the original racking kit so I'm 3d printing new ones. I also plan to get at least 1 drawer for game controllers and keyboard. A power strip and video switch too, if I find one at the surplus store.

I don't have all the stuff I want in it yet. When I do I'll take a better pic.

Yeah I considered a lack rack but after going to ikea I determined it would promptly turn to dust. The other stuff looks a lot sturdier but approached the cost of an actual rack IIRC.

I searched for nearly a year on Craigslist, local monthly flea market and surplus store. I finally caved in and bought a new one. It's pretty nice but I had to drill out a few misaligned holes
