Alex Kidd in Miracle World

It saddens me very much that SEGA fucked up this guy so much. Made him look uglier in every new iteration as he started to look like that guy from MAD's magazine cover and his games became so fucking stupid. Except for Shinobi World and Miracle World, the rest is garbage.

Alex Kidd in Miracle World was so rad he had a helicopter, a bike and a boat. The starting theme got me all wired to play the game, although short, it was energetic and vibrant. It used to be the first sound I used to listen everyday when I woke up for a long time. This game also displayed a nice colourful map of the world that pointed where you were gonna play and gave you the right idea about that place. Also, he punched his enemies in the face, played jankenpo and ate hamburger(in the version I owned at least).

IMO, Miracle world is better than Mario1 and Mario 2 (be it lost levels or the other).

Double Dragon too was a game I'm very fond of. Funny thing is I didn't have two SMS controllers but Atari's controller fit in the slot so I played with my friends anyway with a handicapped partner because all that controller was capable of was moving and kicking since it had only one button.

The other game is SMS version of Choplifter. It was the first time I saw running on a master system and it felt like discovering a new world. The only videogame I experienced before was an Atari2600 and watching my friend play that new machine looked so damn good. I think the closest feeling to it would be a kid that grew with a super nintendo trying the playstation for the first time. Choplifter is far away from a favourite though.

I'm happy this thread is up, I too am starting to use retroarch and I have a few questions, I hope it's not too much, and I tried googling it, but it seems retroarch is pretty weak on the documentation side, it definitely needs a wiki, but anyway here goes nothing, if anyone is up to answer some question I'd appreciate it:

1) Why do some cores ignore the save path and just put the save files wherever they please?
1b) Can I fix this in some way?

2) Can I use different configurations for different emulators?

3) Can I load shaders through the command line?

4) Can I set up a BIOS folder instead of the system folder?

5) Why are they using genplus core instead of picodrive?

6) Any known plans for a MAME core?

7) Why is the zip extraction not working on my x86 machine but works fine on my x64?

8) What is that "Check for ROM Patches" checkbox?

And I think that's all, thanks in advance if you're willing to respond.
