All we need to do is the following:
>model the hammer and it's behavior properly, IE, Single-Action or Double-Action/Single-Action
>rotating frames for the cylinder
>frames for recoil
>frames for reload (optional, but can be done Goldeneye style if you want it fast)
>a decent muzzleflash, but also flash from the cylinder gap

Obviously, a revolver would be the easiest to make centered, but it can still be done.
