It's a lot simpler, than people realize. Farming tombs or trist or whatever is a waste of time. Anyone, even the most brainless summon necro player, can reach the start of Act 5 in normal without farming....and that is all you need to clear the first two difficulties.

Anything works. Once you're there, you can farm eldritch/pindle to go from level 25 through to 40 with no effort. Use /players command on P8. You'll gain levels super quick. It's worth using a respec here to swap to a build with more up front or aoe damage. Damage based magic spells of some kind. You swap back later.

Jumping from normal to nightmare is non existent. If physical bowazons can do it with next to no damage or item grinding, anyone can. Repeat to get to nightmare act 5 and repeat the grinding process to get to level 70+, farming baal waves as well. All the while you aim to get as much vit and res as possible on gear.

The only time anyone should have any difficulty in normal/nightmare is normal duriel and normal diablo. Duriel is just a matter of buying an act 2 mercenary and feeding him thawing potions. Diablo you go back to town repeatedly, healing or resummoning minions, until you slowly win. If you genuinely hit a roadblock past that, then you're a certified grade A brainlet or significantly lack understanding on the game.

It gets difficult when going from nightmare through to properly clearing the hell acts. Hopefully with the grind to level 70/75 you should have enough gear to start making your way through acts 1-3 hell. If not then you can farm nightmare mep and pindle for gear. Get a 4 socket chest piece, a 3 socket helm and fill it with perfect topaz, which you can farm from gem shrines in act 1 normal.

From that point it depends on your build. It will either come down to finding a high enough damage physical weapon or getting enough levels for skill damage. It's really not that hard to scrape through hell mode, even if slow. Just keep life and res up.

I recently did a Kensei and cleared absolutely everything I could before entering the skeleton king area and still got fucking raped so hard I had to step away from the PC and shake my head in disbelief. I was playing on nightmare, so no town or saving, but still...I don't think it's possible unless you get really lucky with drops.

I've put probably in the area of 10000 hours into this game over the years, likely more. Lads give me something to do in the game.

I've already completed a Holy Grail bar two items, have 99d a hardcore and played basically every mod that exists.

Despite all this, I still want to play D2. What do?
