Yeah OVA's are like pitch videos for potential TV series. The Sonic OVA was released as two parts in Japan in 1996. Even the pitch OVA's can still be different from the series that spin off of them. Sonic OVA's do grab from different sources, Sonic CD, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, the swat bots look like they came out of the Archie series. It was edited together and released in English as Sonic: The Movie" in 1999, right around the exact same time Sega launched the Dreamcast and Sonic Adventure. I remember seeing rows of VHS for this at a local department store chain in Canada.
