Captain J was replaced in Super Star Ultra because it's a TwinBee knockoff (though I always thought it was supposed to be a Waddle Doo in a spacesuit). This started a running gag of the jet enemy being the next one in the series whenever Jet reappears (they're up to J3 now, can't wait for J4).
