Okay but why do you feel like you need need to grind your jobs?

I grinded levels but I never grinded my jobs once and everyone was still in a adavance class by like 3/4 through. It felt rewarding to me to change classes and see my characters grow. I loved when I was able to see I mastered a class and knew I could now mess around with a new class and was another step closer to ultimate goal in their final classes.

Yeah, I know, I'm in the minority. I just really love VII. Though really they're all quite good. VII episodic plot, class system, and world really appeals to me. I've beaten it three times and loved every hour.

The IX one is okay, better then VI's. X's is dull but at least looks nice, VI's looks like toriyama was asked to design a protag in 10 minutes. VII's the best in my opinion. I love the regular villager look to him.

Even as a fan of some JRPGs, hell my favorite game of all time is a JRPG, I can admit OP is pretty right. Ultimately they're pretty shallow in terms of combat and character, we get absorbed since their worlds are the most developed compared to other videogames. My personal problem is that there main claim to fame, their writingband characters, are often so cliche or pretentious.

As I say all that I am playing dragon quest VII, absolutely adore it too.
