Watching Ashen's rundown of these stupid things made me wonder: the lighting systems on these gaudy pieces are pretty garbage but it seemed like no one was really trying to make a working light system and the design of these just came down to "shine a light on the screen regardless of angle or intensity and that's all there is to it".

Did anyone make a good light system for the Game Boy? When I was a kid had the "Light Boy" (I think; the images I dug up of it ring a bell but I don't quite recall) and I seemed to remember making use of it but in hindsight it was just my kid brain putting up with it. The reality is it wasn't very good either so it's just another thing on the junk pile.
