Still 100x preferable to what the Americans were shitting out at the time however.

Were yanks just too low IQ and that's why they gravitated to inferiour Jap consoles instead?

Why didn't Amutticans make good games for their computer hardware, /vr/? Were they too consolecucked at the time? Europeans didn't have any problems making excellent computer games. It wasn't until Doom that burgers finally saw the way and took the PC master race pill.

We can all agree that Europe made better retro computer games in general than America, right /vr/?

Americans sure had it rough when it came to computer gaming back in the '80s, huh?

Do you prefer retro European computer games or retro American computer games?

You know, I used to make fun of Americans for their terrible state of gaming, but nowadays I just pity them. I mean, look at all the horrendous games that got released for American computers in the '80s. Not only that, but they had to play them with dismal NTSC encoding. To all American posters on /vr/, how did you cope with those sorry times? Frankly, I don't blame you one bit for retreating to the NES. While the NES was still utter shit, at least it was a step up from god awful American games.

ITT: we discuss why the American computer gaming scene was so dreadful in the '80s.

What did Americans do in between the time Atari crashed their industry and then Nintendo saved them from it?

They had almost nothing but cookie-cutter dungeon crawlers and interactive fiction (which barely even counts as a "game") with primitive graphics and a couple of beeps for sound. There was nothing like the demo scene or any decent music composers either.

Also don't get me started on the rubbish computers they had like IBM PCs with shit CGA colours, Crapple, and a few other miscellaneous shitpiles. Even the few decent computers like Amiga were nearly ignored over there and 90% of their userbase was in Europe.
