I just remembered the Xanadu OVA, which for some reason incorporates an "Isekai" trope of having the protagonist start in the year 2035 on a combat mission and he's thrown back in time. It's where the designs on the MSX cover of the game come from.

Xanadu, next to Ultima and Dragon Quest it was the third pillar of RPG's in Japan, never got an official release in North America, but its spin-offs and sequels did, like Faxanadu and Legacy of The Wizard.

I hate the Dragon Slayer games. Shame as they all look super cool. Pic related.

Drasle Family (Legacy of the Wizard) also has a really awesome concept which I don't think has been done before. Again, massive shame.
