The Spectrum port of R-type is technically impressive but there's no reason to play it now due to how choppy it is.

The C64 version is more fun to play despite being a complete rushjob.

Modern 2D games don't look that much better than games on 16 bit systems. Meanwhile the difference between modern 3D games and 5th gen games are night and day.

Plus, people ignore 2nd gen and 8-bit computer games in these threads.

R-type for the Spectrum, though it's like Perfect Dark in that maybe the devs pushed the system too hard.
