You can just use the composite output from any retro computer on a monochrome display with generally good results. Pic related is an Atari 8-bit with plain old composite.

If you have a composite mod on your spectrum it will work fine, just adjust the v. sync for 50hz. I've done this recently as well, I just have to turn the brightness up to compensate for color text being very dark due to the monochrome display. No pic of that atm, but maybe I can hook it back up.
