In magazines in 1994 it looked sleek and modern and out of left field. Sega had already been around a bit with their 3D titles, but PS1 titles looked like they were coming from a different place creatively. There was a real sense of big-budget arcade experiences coming home, which was what a lot of people really wanted then.
