I could go on and on, it hurts how underrated this library and console are nowadays, it was lovely.

I'm sorry, but by that statement alone I can tell you haven't given the Master System the time of day, surely what you've said is true about all the Master System titles that are just ports of the Genesis, as in an attempt to have the Genesis title in 8-Bit, and in those cases it's essentially impossible for the Genesis version to not be better, since the port isn't just a port, it's a copy.

However, if you look at some of the titles I've listed, like Aladdin, Batman Returns, Castle of Illusion, Lion King, Sonic 1, Sonic 2, etc... you'll see that a lot of them are their own thing, and, depending on your experience with them and personal tastes, offer a better experience than the Genesis, and even if not better, different enough to justify experiencing them at least.

Master System was sweet too, sure it wasn't a huge hit in the US and Japan, the main markets, but it did well enough in Europe and SA and, just to be fair, it didn't sell too good because it's main competitor was the NES of all things, it's tough, but it managed to have better hardware and a ton of quality titles, both exclusives and ports. It's a great library I still go back to quite often.

I know this is a copypasta, but just to clear it up for anyone who's reading, some of this is true I'll admit, but not all of it. While Famicom clones at the time were quite popular, and the main SEGA system that put them on the map was Genesis, or Mega Drive as we called it here, Master System was popular and had much more market share compared to other regions in the world then.

Of course, Mega Drive was the high end one, and a Famicom clone was cheaper, but Master System titles usually looked pretty great for its hardware and, especially in the 90's, looked almost 16-Bit.

Also, if you talk to any Brazilian who owned one as a kid, it's rare to have them talk about it being bad or them wanting a Mega Drive, they're often full of good memories and loved the thing a lot.

No, Brazil isn't a Master System heaven where everybody owns one, but it had a presence in the late 80's and early 90's, way more than in other markets at least, and yes, TecToy still makes the Master System Evolution with some ROMs built in, it's fine, and I like the look of it, but not many people own it, just enough for it to be worth it for them to keep making it, that's all really.

It's good that TecToy's later releases in South America went with the Genesis 6-Button one, even if a bit excessive, it was way better for it.

On another note, it's the same dilemma with the Master System for me, the OG model is the one most people know, and it's iconic, full of identity and character... but the 2nd one, while losing lots of that, manages to feel way sleeker, and it had a gray Brazilian model by TecToy, just like we also got with the Mega Drive/Genesis, though these had more pronounced orange accents to them.

If you have the money, go for both, trust me, you'll regret passing up on either of these offers... but if you HAVE to choose, I'd go for the Master System and Saturn combo, though I'm biased, Master System is my favorite console, and Saturn prices will probably skyrocket I think.

I prefer TecToy's white/gray Master System...it's so cool how Brazil got so many more Mega Drive and Master System color varients and all, even a few completely new models, like the one on pic related, I especially love their gray Mega Drive...

I personally prefer the white and orange Master System from Tec Toy for that reason, it looks so unique, but keeps the slot.

Tec Toy's variants of SEGA consoles are just so awesome to me, these classic consoles in these unique colors and styles.
