I always wondered if 98-99 were that great or I'm just not objective because I got into gaming precisely in those years. But at least for PC they had to be the best until that point.

We're dangerously close to that point were it becomes really cool to hate videogames and despised to like them.

Pic related includes some non-retro years but I like how it shows how fast things were changing those years, it seemed like a game from 1995 and one from 1998 were completely different technology and design.
