/vr/ - Retro Games

Does anyone on /vr/ actually like Quake? It seems to me like everyone just likes the "idea" of Quake. Like as a staple of geek culture, like Star Trek or Lord of the Rings.

I've hosted Quake servers on /vr/ before, and no one ever joins them. I've never seen anyone else host a server. I've never even seen anyone challenge anyone to a duel. Everyone just loves TALKING about Quake, but not actually playing it.

I love Zelda 1 because it's a great casual filter. Whenever I hear some balding Skyrim fan complain about how Zelda 1 is "cheap" or "cryptic," I immediately know to discard all future opinions from him.

Really, is it THAT FUCKING HARD to draw your own map, listen to NPC's, and take notes? I'd love to see you pussies try to play Zork (or worse, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) without a walkthrough.
