Look around, explore, see if there are any other dolphins or other creatures you can talk to. It's a puzzle game in many ways, like 2D underwater Tomb Raider. The first couple levels are really just learning the basics of how the controls work, if you can't get past them just switch to another game. It gets pretty hard as it goes on.

I was stuck on this fucking thing for so long I resorted to trying to brute force a password for a later level. Now it seems stupidly simple and takes less than 10 seconds, but back then I just couldn't get it.

Yes it is. For something that looks like baby's first dolphin adventure, it gets punishing and scary real fast.

Ecco the Dolphin is mine. I can do the Machine pretty well, but even now the Asterite still gives me a hell whenever I get there.
