They're quite good. Maybe try DQIV next as that game is also more plot focused like DQV. Personally my favorite is DQIII, it's more of a simple jrpg with less emphasis on plot but the adventure it provides is amazing.

You can just say you know nothing about the series if you think a series as huge as DQ is a "cult" series.

V and VII definitely have the strongest design with VI and X being the weakest.

Man, I can not get into DQ4 at all. Ever since midway through Elena's chapter I started struggling to get motivated to keep playing. I think the constant switching characters just wore me out. Managed to get through Torneko's chapter because it was kind of fun playing the markets, but now I'm back to level 1 with the twins and I just don't care anymore.

Also was it ever confirmed if the 7 remake was getting the symphonic music cut from the western release?
