It just occurred to me that the best faction to fill this niche, lore and theme-wise, and for it to work well with homm would be Vori Snow elves or "True-elves" (pureblood) as they call themselves. They are:
>an insular nation
>extremely isolationist and xenophobic
>arrogant and elitist
>glorious past and supreme warriors
>Rampart elves of AvLee (wood/grand) that are descended from them ("renegades") already have some Japanese influence in their architecture - it is only natural to assume Vori are the same or better
Inspiration can be further taken from Warhammer Fantasy High Elves and Lowryn Elves of mtg since both are aristocratic, ruthless, and predatory. Transpose it through Asian mythology and medieval Japan to give them a character and flair of their own et voila - a new town is born! It would also be a snow-based faction, since their island is frozen in ice and that would kinda be in concert with the "Christmas town" that should be released after Factory.
