I probably wouldn't bother having both a RGB genesis and having S-video modded one. The difference is there, but if you're happy with it it's nothing vast like the composite to s-video upgrade.

If you are thrifty and don't mind soldering you can probably do it without paying anything extra (unless you need to find a RGB monitor; that's possible but less likely).

There are so many dofferent TVs out there in consumerland that any list would be woefully incomplwte. I'm not aware of one. Just look for CRTs and look up model numbers. If it's wood grain it's probably too old for s-video.
