Good to hear, I've been enjoying it so far.

So far the PS1 port has all the guns, music, and enemies that the pc version has (plus two new enemies) as well as some new lighting effects. (Specifically lens flares on certain light sources)

I'm actually impressed with how accurate this port is, especially for the PS1, the only thing they seem to have sacrificed is the resolution and the length of the game. But since pc quake 2 is such a slog anyways making the game shorter on ps1 isnt even a problem, and the low res is where the afforementioned soul comes from.

I have never owned a sony console, I'm emulating quake 2 in duckstation right now with a xbox 360 controller and it even emulates perfectly too. I bought Quake 2 pc on gog a few years ago and hated it so its nice to finally find a version of quake 2 that I can actually enjoy playing.

Quake 2 is surprisingly decent on PS1. Very, very nice lighting -- maybe too bright and colorful, but it looks really nice. Mostly decent framerate, which it even manages to keep high in 4 player splitscreen.
shame about the retarded sealed-off looking skies that are just some gouraud shaded polygons.

biggest issue is that you can't configure the controls nearly as much as you should
like, why is the left stick turn and move forward/back and the right strafe look up/down and strafe, and why can't you change that
why can't you have type C controls but with d-pad strafe since using triangle+square to look up/down is completely perfect (and it's what I use in Armored Core)

Otherwise, it's a great port.
here, have an awful stretched pic from youtube
