For what it's worth, the 4th one doesn't rotate. Then again it's practically a different game altogether, barely connected to the rest of the series at all.

Oh wow a Brandish thread. Don't see that very often.

At any rate, someone mentioned the PSP remake of Brandish 1. It will NEVER be ported to the US, but as a consolation prize, here is the soundtrack:

Brandish 2 had a fan-translation patch for the SNES rom. It also has a creepy history regarding the VERY strange and sudden disappearance of one of the people on the patch team. It's not tinfoil-hat level crazy, but essentially all the guy's posts, files, and accounts of various sites just vanished abruptly from the face of the net. Weird.

Brandish 3 isn't mentioned much. Its' on the PC-98, and since that isn't the most popular system to emulate/collect, not many people have played it. Apparently the Japanese crowd has a rather love/hate attitude towards it, but I'm not really clear why.

Brandish VT/4 is sort of the dark horse of the series. Not only does it use a completely different engine (no more rotating screens!), but its only tenuously linked with the previous games in the series. An offhand mentioning of a few locations and events is about all it has in relation with the earlier titles. If you want to check this one out, go for the PC version instead of the PC-98. PC-98 only has 3 character paths, whereas the PC version has 5, plus a few extra floors and a (slightly) expanded story. Brandish 4 also has the dubious honor of having no less than 3 failed fan translation projects. Well, 3 serious ones. There were probably roughly a dozen that never had a chance in the first place...

Oh wait, actually there have been 4 attempts to make a translation patch, but only two of the projects were serious.

But it doesn't matter, as they all died.

There's a torrent of Brandish 4 out there somewhere. I downloaded it almost 4 years ago though, and considering it's obscurity I doubt it would even have any seeders if you somehow found it today.
