Sometimes when I search around about Mortal Kombat 2 online, I encounter this weird rumor about the 4.2 MAME version.
It may be a hacked version. I'm not sure.
According to the rom info, Kung Lao has a new "bones in his hat fatality" and Liu Kang has a "red dragon" fatality.
This has come up a few times on other video game forums, but no one seems to know anything about it.
