>Even if they were still alive, they would still not having the glory they had back then. And they would mostly be like video rental stores before their shut down: ghost shops with barely any customers.

I respectfully disagree. Galloping Ghost arcade in Chicago does really well. They started with 300 games, but each week they added more and now have almost 1000 games.

They charge a flat fee and you can play all day during business hours. You can leave to go get lunch and come back too. They are doing so well that GG just spent $3 million dollars to expand the arcade. They are buying the buildings next to the arcade, knocking down the walls, and expanding even further.

I think the key is to focus on quantity and offer good value. Really pack in the games. You can't be charging customers per game anymore like the old days. If someone walks in with $10 or $20 dollars, they are going to be selective about what they want to play. Only a few games will be chosen. But if $20 dollars gets you access to all the games on the floor for free, then you will be much more open to trying as many games as you want.

GG also focuses on just video games only. No ticket redemption. No child casino games. No prizes. No amusement games like skeeball or bumper cars. Just video games only.
