This is hard. These were my two main games as a kid. I played them around the same time, and I love them both too much. I'm surprised I never compared them like this before.

I guess I'd have to say Mario 3. It's the definitive Mario game imo. Sonic 2 feels underwhelming after playing Sonic 3&K.
